Pixelleria: Sumit Dhar's Photoblog http://sumit.pixyblog.com/ http://www.pixyblog.com/roller-ui/theme/pixy/logo.gif <p>Since my childhood days, I have had a morbid fear of getting photographed. Somehow, no matter how hard I tried, I always looked like Schwarzennegar trying a 700 pound deadlift. Therefore, I soon realized that the safest place for me, during a photography shoot, was behind the camera. :-)</p><p>Got an analog SLR in 2002 and moved to digital in 2005. I have been shooting (digital) seriously since then, but I still have so much to learn. I would like to thank my friend and colleague <a href="http://www.pbase.com/lfa/profile" target="_blank">Laurent Fabre</a> from Switzerland for sharing his knowledge and helping me improve my photography. He has been the biggest influence and has provided a great deal of guidance. </p><p>Hope viewing these images gives you as much pleasure as I got from shooting them. </p><ul><li><strong>Equipment Used:</strong> <a href="http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos350d/" target="_blank">Canon EOS 350D</a>, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Fujifilm-Finepix-S5200-Digital-Optical/dp/B0007GIXSI/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-9761053-3429564?ie=UTF8&amp;s=electronics&amp;qid=1185124080&amp;sr=8-1" target="_blank">Fuji FinePix S5600 (a.k.a S5200)</a>, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Coolpix-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B00061S2QW" target="_blank">Nikon S4800</a></li><li><strong>Lenses:</strong> <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Canon-50mm-1-8-Camera-Lens/dp/B00007E7JU" target="_blank">Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II,</a> <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Canon-70-200mm-Telephoto-Zoom-Cameras/dp/B000053HH5/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/105-6445060-7152458?ie=UTF8&amp;s=photo&amp;qid=1190325286&amp;sr=1-2" target="_blank">Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L</a>, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Sigma-18-200mm-3-5-6-3-Optical-Stabilizer/dp/B000NOSCGM/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=electronics&amp;qid=1210323271&amp;sr=8-1" target="_blank">Sigma 18-200 DC OS</a> and the Canon Kit Lens</li><li><strong>Tripod:</strong> <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Bogen-Manfrotto-190XPROB-Section-Aluminum/dp/B000N7VPRW/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=electronics&amp;qid=1210323913&amp;sr=8-1" target="_blank">Bogen Manfrotto 190X</a>&nbsp;and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/804RC2-3-Way-Quick-Release-Tripod/dp/B000K86664/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&amp;s=electronics&amp;qid=1210323608&amp;sr=1-5" target="_blank">3 way &nbsp;Pan / Tilt head with Quick Release</a>&nbsp;</li><li><strong>Flash:</strong> <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Canon-430EX-Speedlite-Flash-Cameras/dp/B000AO3L84/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;s=electronics&amp;qid=1210323409&amp;sr=1-2" target="_blank">Canon 430EX Speedlite Flash</a>&nbsp;</li><li><strong>Software Used:</strong> Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Noise Ninja / Neat Image, Photomatix, PTGui </li></ul><p>If you want to use any of the images or require higher resolution copies of these images, feel free to mail me at <strong>sumit</strong> dot <strong>dhar</strong> at <strong>gmail</strong> dot <strong>com</strong>. </p> en-us Copyright 2008 Wed, 2 Jul 2008 22:11:31 -0800 pixyBlog 3.3 (20080630101354:rj) http://sumit.pixyblog.com/entry/dragonfly-ii Damselfly http://sumit.pixyblog.com/entry/dragonfly-ii Sat, 24 May 2008 20:17:27 -0800 Nature <p>Another shot with my Sigma 18-200mm OS lens. This is something I had been lusting for quite some time and am happy to say that the camera meets all my expectations. The images are crisp and practically noise free, even at ISO 400. The prime lens allows me to shoot in very low light. The DOF is amazing.<br /> </p><p>All in all, as the McDonalds ad says, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I&#39;m_lovin&#39;_it" target="_blank"><em>I&#39;m lovin&#39; it</em></a>.</p><p>PS: For those in Bangalore, looking for a good deal on the Canon EOS 350D or any other photographic equipment, do contact Jayesh of Foto Circle. He is extremely knowledgeable and his rates are very reasonable.
